The falling of the masks actually turned out to be their acceptance. The backstage area of any fashion show continues to be just as much dream territory as the infamous front row. The global pandemic has reduced the number of guests to both. Yet the fashion industry, along with the entire machine behind it, has shown that the job can be done in an equally compelling way.
The calmness with which the teams work out behind the scenes for their presentations is amazing. Models, fashionistas, make-up artists, curators touch everything according to an established order, which is rarely violated. There are also stretssful moments and last minute running. It's as if the "mistakes" needed to raise the levels of emotion often turn out to be the most applauded. It is affirming how fashion, like other industries most affected by the crisis, finds a way to move forward despite everything.
